Growing At 200%, Cybereason Wins Against SentinelOne And CrowdStrike>
Forbes – Peter Cohan
On November 15, Morgan Stanley cited competition when issuing a bearish report on CrowdStrike. Meanwhile, SentinelOne seems to be in solid shape. One competitor unnamed in that report, Boston-based Cybereason, says it is rapidly surpassing these two â with revenues soaring 200%.
I think Cybereason would be a great venture capital investment and I would consider buying SentinelOne on a dip.
CrowdStrike shares have risen at a 79% compound annual rate to $270 a share. In its most recent report, the company posted rapid growth and a big loss. Its second quarter earnings report featured 70% revenue growth to $338 million and a $57 million net loss for the quarter ending July 2021.
Mountain View, Calif.-based SentinelOne went public in early July and its shares have since increased 65%.
SentinelOne âs revenue growth outpaces CrowdStrikeâs. As I wrote in September, its revenues rose about 121% to $45.8 million somet $6 million more than analysts projected for the quarter ending in July. SentinelOne also raised its revenue forecast for the October-ending quarter to 101%. That assumes third quarter revenue of $49.5 million â about $9 million more than analysts had expected.
This July, CrowdStrike dinged SentinelOne for its low prices. As CRN noted, Kurtz said SentinelOne was âbuying growth [to impress investors]. At some point, youâve got to reverse the losses and start generating cash.â
Cybereason Barreling Towards an IPO Cybereason says it offers the best solution available for stopping attacks. âOur approach was validated. Russia chose not to hack organizations that were using Cybereason. Google decided to build a joint product with us because we have the data. If there is a cyberattack, we have the ultimate solution. We have the brain that makes the decision for you,â Div told me.
CrowdStrike begs to differ. Its Chief Technology Officer Michael Sentonas told me November 13, âCrowdStrike is ranked #1 worldwide by IDC and Cybereason is not even in the top 10, it does not get any clearer than that. We just donât see them in many deals.â
