Fortinet Launches Latest Global Threat Landscape Report

Fortinet, a leader in broad and integrated cybersecurity solutions, has released the latest edition of its Global Threat Landscape Report. The report highlights key industry trends, emerging threats, and their impact on industries and organizations around the world. The report found that the healthcare industry is increasingly vulnerable to significant attacks as the demands of modern healthcare become ever more complex. In particular, ransomware threats targeting healthcare entities have more than doubled since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. The report found that ransomware remains the most widespread attack vector in healthcare, targeting 82% of organizations in the first half of 2020, making it the most targeted industry in terms of ransomware attacks compared to finance, government, and education. In addition, the report found that attacks against Industrial Control System (ICS) devices are on the rise. The report reveals that industrial organizations experienced an increase in the number of attacks in 2020, accounting for 5.2% of all attacks observed by Fortinet Security Fabric in the first half of the year. The report also revealed the emergence of malicious actors leveraging cloud services for malicious activity including cryptomining, botnets, and C&C communication.
