BEC Attacks on the Rise for Manufacturing Industry | Arctic Wolf>
– Mark Manglicmot
Bec Attacks are on the rise for the Manufacturing Industry.
This means that manufacturers now need to be increasingly aware of and vigilant about BEC threats.
BEC (business email compromise) is both financially and data driven attack, where attackers use a variety of techniques, such as phishing, ransomware, and malware to gain access to organizations’ credentials and personal/business information.
When successful, these attacks can lead to the theft of sensitive data, the destruction of critical systems, and financial loss.
For manufacturers, this means that they need to take the necessary steps to protect their data and systems from being compromised.
Some of the measures that can be taken to protect against BEC attacks include: educating employees on the latest phishing tactics, deploying multi-factor authentication on any sensitive systems, regularly patching/updating software/systems, segmenting networks, and deploying an email filter to detect BEC attacks.
Additionally, organizations should ensure that they have the right cybersecurity tools and practices in place, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
By taking these steps, manufacturers can better protect themselves against BEC attacks and their associated risks.
