The Zero Trust AI Governance Framework is a proposed framework which seeks to limit the power of big tech companies in regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and other autonomous technologies.
The framework is the product of a broad coalition of AI and technology experts, think tanks, public-interest groups, and industry associations.
Its core premise is that no single entity, including tech giants such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, or Facebook, should have sole control over regulating the ethical use of AI-driven technologies.
Rather, the framework calls for an open and collaborative process in which stakeholders from different industries, levels of government, and social sectors can come together to identify and address potential risks and ethical issues associated with AI technologies.
The framework also calls for the creation of public oversight boards to adequately monitor and police the behavior of companies that are deploying AI solutions.
By putting in place a model of global governance that champions accountability, transparency, and justice, the framework seeks to ensure that any potential risks and ethical implications of AI are managed and minimized to safeguard the public’s trust and safety.
