– Fortinet; Inc
Fortinet, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTNT) today, September 27, 2023, announced the formation of the Veterans Program Advisory Council (VPAC).
The VPAC is comprised of leading members nominally transitioning military veterans in the cybersecurity field who are currently employed at diverse companies across the nation.
The Council was formed to help close the growing skills gap in cybersecurity and create career pathways for veterans.
In its mission to close the skills gap in cybersecurity, the Council will collaborate with Fortinet to ensure veterans are presented with new opportunities to apply their technical skills in a dynamic new marketplace, develop specialized skills needed to help protect against the most sophisticated cyber risks, and transition to civilian employment.
The VPAC will guide Fortinet’s veteran hiring and retention efforts.
They will provide input and advice to ensure that veteran employees are empowered with the necessary training and support systems required.
In addition, the VPAC will investigate mentor and networking opportunities that will show veterans the advantages of exceptional cybersecurity work.
The VPAC will also provide advice on best practices to successfully make the transition from the military to civilian life and a civilian career.
The VPAC currently consists of an impressive roster of established veterans.
The Council is led by retired Army National Guard Sergeant First Class Spencer BeVier and includes retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Rick Reyes, Army Captain Kelly Davis and retired Marine Corps First Lieutenant Jing Zeng.
Fortinet stands proud of its commitment to increase the ranks of successful veterans in technology and cybersecurity, a sector with such high demand that it nearly quadrupled in size in the past 3 years alone.
The Veterans Program Advisory Council and its members is part of that congestion, providing veterans with opportunities to transition into new careers, and Fortinet the chance to benefit from the distinct and valuable experience, skills, and dedication veterans bring to the cyber defense space.
