AMD CEO Lisa Su, along with two other Cisco board members, has informed Cisco Systems of their decision not to run for re-election at the 2023 Cisco Annual General Meeting.
The main reason for their departure could be a potential conflict of interest.
Lisa Su, who joined the Cisco board in 2020, is the head of AMD, a technology company that has made significant strides in the servers and PCs market, including the acquisition of Pensando, a competitor to Cisco’s products.
The introduction of AMD’s EPYC 8004 Siena processors further brings them into competition with Cisco.
This creates a conflict of interest for Dr.
Su as she serves on the board of a telecommunications equipment manufacturer.
Dr.
Su has not yet commented on this decision, but she previously left a similar position at Analog Devices before joining the Cisco board.
