Advarra claimed to be compromised after SIM swapping attack
SC Media
The ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware group claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against U.S. medical trial solutions firm Advarra, alleging the theft of over 120GB of sensitive data through a SIM swapping attack on an executive.
The threatened data leak included personal information and passport scans.
However, the ransomware group’s claim was later retracted from their website.
Advarra acknowledged unauthorized access to some employee accounts due to a compromised phone number but reported that their client and partner systems remained unaffected.
The company maintains that their operations continue normally with no evidence that their systems and products used by clients were accessed or compromised.
