KnowBe4, a provider of security awareness training and simulated phishing, has released a white paper highlighting the effectiveness of these measures in reducing cybersecurity risk.
The study analyzed data from over 60,000 customer organizations and found that groups that conducted frequent simulated phishing tests (PSTs) performed better in detecting phishing campaigns compared to groups that did not.
The study also showed that the more frequently groups conducted PSTs, the better their performance.
Groups that did weekly PSTs were 2.74 times more effective in risk reduction than groups that did less frequent tests.
The white paper emphasized the importance of incorporating security awareness training and simulated phishing into cybersecurity strategies, as phishing and social engineering account for a large percentage of data breaches.
