Survey Surfaces High Levels of Burnout Among Cybersecurity Professionals – Malware News – Malwar…>

A survey of 900 security decision-makers and practitioners from companies with 200 or more employees reveals that 63% of respondents are experiencing burnout, and 55% are likely to switch jobs next year.
Manual work and increased workloads were identified as the most frustrating aspects, with 80% stating that their workloads have increased in the last year.
Despite this, 99% reported satisfaction with their current role and engagement with their work.
The survey suggests that automation is necessary to address burnout, with 92% of respondents working for organizations that are automating some of their work.
Cybersecurity professionals are overwhelmed by alerts, leading to burnout, while long investigations into false-positive alerts take a psychological toll.
Mental health should be a priority for cybersecurity professionals in this inherently stressful field.
While there is increased appreciation for cybersecurity, the working experience for professionals may not be improving as cyberattacks become more sophisticated.
AI-enabled attacks pose new challenges, and the stress level for cybersecurity professionals may increase.
Switching careers or jobs is relatively easy for seasoned professionals, but the stress level is likely to be similar.
The size of the cybersecurity budget does not necessarily correlate with stress levels.
