Veracode has released new research highlighting the factors influencing flaw introduction and accumulation in the Financial Services sector.
The study reveals that financial applications generally outperform other industries in terms of security performance, with automation, targeted security training, and scanning via API contributing to a reduction in the percentage of applications containing flaws year over year.
While 72% of applications in the Financial Services sector still have security flaws, this is the lowest among all industries analyzed and an improvement from the previous year.
The research emphasizes the importance of API scanning and security training in reducing the likelihood of flaw introduction, with Financial Services organizations benefiting more from these practices compared to the cross-industry average.
Additionally, the study highlights that Java is the dominant programming language in the Financial Services sector, and Veracode’s AI-powered remediation tool, Veracode Fix, effectively generates fixes for the majority of Java static findings, leading to improved security and reduced risk.
