Palo Alto Networks Unveils New Rugged Firewall for Industrial Environments
Security Week – Duard Kovacs
Palo Alto Networks has introduced a new rugged firewall tailored for industrial settings, the PA-450R, which boasts machine learning capabilities to enhance threat detection and offers a performance three times greater than the company’s previous firewalls.
Designed for demanding OT environments like power substations, the PA-450R is part of Palo Alto Networks’ Industrial OT Security solutions, providing comprehensive visibility, security checks, and protection against threats.
In addition to the PA-450R, Palo Alto Networks has expanded its OT Security offerings with features that identify assets and assess risks associated with cellular-connected devices across 5G, 4G, and 3G networks.
This enhancement uses mobile-specific data and a device database that includes 220,000 types from the GSMA database, to detect unauthorized or potentially harmful communications.
The company has also introduced a risk priority classification to help evaluate potential threats’ likelihood and impact on customer environments, utilizing various data like CVSS scores, the KEV catalog from CISA, and the EPSS.
For organizations employing SD-WAN technologies, Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma SD-WAN on-premises controller now supports OT environments to safely identify and categorize devices using industrial protocols.
Furthermore, Palo Alto Networks has announced the Strata Cloud Manager (SCM), which provides an OT security dashboard within its operations management solution, allowing for streamlined access to OT risks and alerts.
