According to new research from IT infrastructure provider Softcat, cybersecurity is once again the top priority for financial organizations in the coming year, with 55% prioritizing it above all else.
The annual Business Tech Priorities Report surveyed over 4,000 customers from 2,900 organizations in the UK and Ireland.
The report found that the increasing reliance on digital banking and the closure of bank branches have made cybersecurity even more critical.
The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) revealed a 266% increase in cyber incidents in the finance, insurance, and credit sectors in 2023\) Investment in zero-trust security and AI threat hunting is crucial.
The second most important investment priority for the finance sector is devices and end-user computing, with 36% of respondents planning to invest in this area in 2024\) Data and sustainability are also priorities for the financial sector, with 31% and 64% of respondents citing them as key initiatives for the year ahead.
