New ‘Magic’ Gmail Security—Google’s Latest AI Defense Initiative>

Google has announced a new AI Cyber Defense Initiative that includes open-sourcing the new Magika tool, which uses AI to help protect Gmail users from potentially problematic content.
The initiative is designed to reverse the “defender’s dilemma” by allowing defenders to scale their work in threat detection and incident response using AI.
Magika has already been used to identify hard-to-identify malicious content with a precision rate of 95%.
Google is also launching a new report, Secure, Empower, Advance: How AI Can Reverse the Defender’s Dilemma, at the Munich Security Conference, which will outline its new policy and technology agenda.
Additionally, the company is investing in AI-ready infrastructure, releasing new tools for defenders, providing research grants to advance AI-powered security breakthroughs, and collaborating with startups through its Google for Startups Growth Academy’s AI for Cybersecurity Program.
