Sophos’ Kris Hagerman Steps Down as CEO, Joe Levy Takes Helm>
Bank Info Security – Cal Harrison
Sophos has announced that CEO Kris Hagerman, who led the company for 12 years and presided over its growth from a $100 million firm to over $1 billion in revenues, is stepping down as CEO.
He will transition to an advisory role until April 1, while long-time Sophos executive Joe Levy takes on the position of president and acting CEO “effective immediately.” Hagerman has been credited with leading the company through its successful IPO in 2015 and driving its shift to cybersecurity as a service.
The company has recently announced major business initiatives, including a shift toward managed detection and response services, which has resulted in the creation of an operational threat intelligence unit called Sophos X-Ops.
Levy is also credited with helping to create Sophos X-Ops and leading the company’s efforts to arm managed security providers and cyber-focused channel partners worldwide with innovative security technologies and services.
The leadership transition occurs amid challenging times for Sophos, which announced the industry’s second-largest round of layoffs in October 2022, affecting 10% of its workforce, or about 450 employees.
