Tenable, Vulcan Cyber Lead Vulnerability Management Rankings
Bank Info Security – @ISMG_News
According to a report by Forrester, Tenable maintained its position as the top-ranked vendor in vulnerability risk management, while Vulcan Cyber entered the leaders category and Rapid7 and Qualys dropped from the leaderboard.
The shift in the way vendors deliver vulnerability management has moved away from simply ingesting vulnerability assessment results and performing risk assessments.
Instead, vendors are now focusing on ingesting as much data as possible to provide a comprehensive view of asset risk alongside threat intelligence and compensating controls.
Tenable received the highest strategy ranking, followed by Vulcan Cyber.
The report also highlights Tenable’s shift from vulnerability to exposure management and its holistic offering through strategic mergers and acquisitions.
Other notable vendors in the market include Microsoft, Brinqa, Balbix, NopSec, Rapid7, Qualys, Cisco, Nucleus Security, and Skybox Security.
Tenable’s approach involves considering multiple variables unique to each organization to provide context beyond the CVE score for effective vulnerability prioritization.
Vulcan Cyber brings an attacker’s perspective into risk scoring to prioritize and track vulnerabilities that have the biggest impact on risk reduction.
Both companies aim to improve transparency and customization in their scoring methodologies.
