Sophos Firewall v20 has been released as a free upgrade for all licensed Sophos Firewall customers, featuring new active threat response capabilities, networking enhancements, and additional support for remote workforces.
It integrates seamlessly with Sophos’ Unified SASE platform and shares the same management console and policy repository for consistent administration across various products.
Highlights include:
– **Active Threat Response**: Integration with MDR and XDR allows the firewall to automatically respond to threats without manual rule creation.
– **Remote Worker Protection and SASE**: ZTNA gateway is now built into the firewall for easier remote access deployments and third-party SD-WAN integration facilitates onramping traffic onto Cloudflare, Akami, or Azure networks.
– **Networking Enhancements**: A new VPN portal for user self-service, improved IPsec functionality, SSL VPN enhancements, increased SD-WAN scalability, and IPv6 improvements are included.
– **Management Improvements**: Interface enable/disable function, object reference lookups, high-resolution display support, auto-rollback on failed firmware updates, and new Azure AD integration features enhance management efficiency.
– **Other Updates**: WAF has been enhanced with geolocation policy enforcement and improved security features, support for Azure Single Arm deployment, and additional administrative features.
The upgrade also includes serious security fixes and enhancements, following the standard update process and is now available for download via Sophos Central.
The new firmware will be rolled out gradually, with notifications in Sophos Central when the update is ready.
Sophos Firewall v20 upgrade is fully supported from any earlier version, with detailed release notes and full documentation available online.
