How MSPs can take on a more proactive, advisory role with small businesses | SC Media>
SC Magazine – Steve Zurier
Small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are facing increasing pressure from ransomware, aggressive malware, and business email compromise.
A survey by CyberRisk Alliance (CRA) and ArcticWolf revealed that 1 in 3 SMBs fell victim to malware attacks, with phishing and password-based attacks also being common.
The concern over cybersecurity has dampened SMBs’ hopes for 2024, with many lacking confidence in their security posture and expecting future attacks.
MSPs (Managed Service Providers) have an opportunity to play a proactive role in guiding SMBs toward risk mitigation and reducing vulnerabilities.
SMBs are planning to invest more in cybersecurity services and seek partnerships with MSPs for long-term security strategies.
MSPs can better serve SMBs by focusing on foundational IT security while partnering with Managed Security Operations Providers (MSOPs) that specialize in threat hunting and managing in-depth security threats.
Clear communication and understanding between SMBs and MSPs, addressing resource constraints and knowledge gaps, are crucial for a successful partnership in enhancing cybersecurity.
