FDA forms new committee to advise on health tech>
The U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has formed a new Digital Health Center of Excellence (DHCoE) advisory committee, to advise the agency on digital health technologies, including mobile medical applications, Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, connected devices, and health software systems.
The committee will be composed of experts from academia, government, health care providers, consumer advocacy organizations, and industry.
The panel will provide a platform for sharing ideas as well as feedback on best practices, standards, and safety for digital health technologies.
The committee members will also advise on the regulatory framework and criteria that can be used in assessing the safety, effectiveness, and security of digital health technologies.
The FDA hopes this committee will help accelerate the development of the medical device ecosystem and ensure that consumers are adequately protected.
