Google has announced the discontinuation of Usenet support within Google Groups, effective from February 22\) The decision follows a significant decline in legitimate usage of text-based Usenet groups, with users migrating to modern technologies and formats like social media and web-based forums.
Additionally, much of the current Usenet content comprises non-text file sharing and spam, neither of which is supported by Google Groups.
With the cessation of Usenet support, Google will also terminate Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) server services.
However, Usenet content posted prior to the specified date will remain accessible and searchable on Google Groups.
Individuals engaged in active Usenet content usage are encouraged to transition to other available free or paid platforms.
