Cyber incidents push consumers to sever ties with brands>
SC Magazine –
According to Cybernews, 75% of U.S. consumers would cease support for brands and organizations affected by data breaches, while 66% would refrain from trusting such entities with their data.
The study revealed that 44% of consumers attribute corporate cyber incidents to inadequate security measures.
Furthermore, the Vercara study highlighted a more forgiving attitude toward smaller organizations impacted by cyberattacks.
However, the research also indicated a lack of consumer awareness about their role in ensuring cybersecurity.
Vercara CEO Colin Doherty emphasized the need for organizations to enhance security measures, particularly through comprehensive employee training and awareness sessions, not limited to IT and cyber departments.
This approach aims to empower all employees to recognize and respond to increasingly sophisticated ransomware and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
