Tenable to Buy Startup Ermetic for $265M to Safeguard Clouds

Tenable, a cybersecurity company, announced it has acquired Ermetic, a cybersecurity startup focused on cloud infrastructure security, for $265 million. This acquisition follows the company’s “Security LaunchPad” program to invest in and build technology to protect customers and multitenancy cloud environments. Ermetic’s technology uses advanced machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence approaches to monitor and continuously assess security policies in cloud environments. The technology automatically detects any inconsistency in users’ activities, including any unauthorized migration of data to the cloud. The company’s products provide customers with an integrated view of their cloud infrastructure security and continuously assess their security policies. Tenable says the acquisition of Ermetic will help it continue to build cloud security solutions that eliminate risk and ensure compliance for its customers and partners. Tenable also expects this to help it grow its customer base. Tenable believes that the combination of Ermetic’s technology with its own capabilities will provide customers with the ability to address a variety of modern security challenges, such as ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection regulations and preventing malicious activities in modern cloud environments.
