The report states that ransomware attacks continued to dominate the threat landscape, accounting for 12% of all global malware encounters during the period.
Cyber espionage techniques such as spear phishing, malicious emails containing malware, remote code execution, and online watering holes increased by over 48%.
Botnet and cryptojacking attacks declined significantly but remain prominent, accounting for 7.6% of all global malware encounters.
Mobile malware accounted for over 36% of overall infected mobile devices, mainly due to a surge in adware and high-risk file downloaders.
