ZeroFont trick makes users think that message has been scanned for threats
– AndyC
The Zerofont trick is a simple but effective deceptive tactic that has been used by malicious attackers to make users believe that their messages have been scanned for threats.
The trick involves replacing the font of a message with one containing a built-in zero character, such as Wingdings or Webdings, in order to make it look like the message has been scanned by a security tool.
This way, attackers can give potential victims a false sense of security and convince them to open malicious links or attachments in the email or message.
By manipulating the font, the attacker can create a message that has a reassuring “Scanned for Threats” or “Verified by Antivirus” message, when in reality the message has not been scanned for any threats at all.
